About The Artwork
Janus was inspired by the God Janus. The sculpture was made from miocene stone believed to be 20 million years old and comes from the ancient sea known as the 'Mer de Faluns' which is found in Brittany, France. This is a fossil stone and contains fragments of bone, shells, etc. It has an extraordinary sensuous, fleshy quality.
