Art Description

Sculpture: paper, plastic and card on Wood, Cardboard and Paper.

Edition of 25.

A set of three pavilions inspired by my son, Joseph Singporewala and Modernist Architect, Leonard Manasseh.

The artist was involved in the refurbishment and extension of Leonard Manasseh’s modernist Grade II* listed Rutherford School in Marylebone, London (now The King Solomon Academy). Karl’s pavilions have drawn inspiration from the bold geometric shapes of the main teaching block, assembly space and Leonard’s unrealised third building; the cylinder. Fusing this with the playfulness of Joseph Singporewala’s shape sorting toys, the pavilions aim to communicate on a metaphysical level.
