About The Artwork

This is a semi-abstract wire wall sculpture of children in the rain carrying umbrellas. It is designed to be mounted directly to a wall. Wire wall murals I’ve created have been purchased by hotels, restaurants, convention centers and other public centers throughout the world. I have also made private personalized sculptures for people's homes and offices. My wire wall sculptures are made of 4 mm diameter low-carbon steel wire that I weld and then powder coat with an all-weather, UV resistant finish. Sizes range from 4 to 100 feet wide. The wall sculptures are mounted to a wall on wire loops that are secured with wall anchors or screws. The sculptures end up about two inches from the wall and project a shadow that changes with the lighting source. Installation instructions are included. Painting: Many of my wire wall sculptures have been painted with a special non-glare pigment in order to facilitate photography. The background of the photo has been lightened to emphasize the art. Doing so allows you to more accurately see how the piece is made. Please allow up to two weeks to repaint the art with a high gloss, UV and weather resistant coating at no additional charge. If you would like a specific color other than gloss black to match your décor, I can do so for an additional nominal charge. Email me at bart@wirewallart.com.

Bart designs and builds both large and small custom wirewall art using 9 or 12 gauge annealed steel wire. He welds his wall sculptures for strength and stability and has them powder coated with a UV protective covering for endurance. Bart, originally from the Netherlands, graduated from Boston University and attended classes at the NYU, New School for Social Research. Bart’s mediums as an artist have included photography, silk-screen, lithography, acrylics, oils, clay and stained glass. After seeing an exhibit of Alexander Calder’s wire art at the Whitney Museum in NYC., wire became his new medium of choice Bart’s art style is figurative. He says this style helps him to express what’s most important in life, the simplest things, things we cherish. Like holding someone’s hand, taking a bath, watching people at work or kids at play, the beauty of the human figure or the things we enjoyed in our youth now can become our joy. Wire sculptures pictured here are powder coated gloss black. They are also available in color, slightly larger or smaller, with minor changes, using the same drawing as a guide. Inquire for details.
