Art Description

Sculpture: Interactive on Steel, Aluminium.

I created " Little Oil Well" in 2016, it was fabricated in Hoboken, NJ for The Parks, And Recreation Dept. of NYC. It was on display from 9/2016 thru 9/2017. It was a solo exhibit in AHEARN PARK in the Lower East side of Manhattan on Grand Street. The sculpture was inspired by the movie "Giant". I wanted to create an abstract oil well of the oil wells in "Little Riatta" the small piece of land owned by the movie character "Jet Rink" played by James Dean. It is 8'x5' 800lbs. It is interactive because the wheels can be spinned making the sculpture look like a working oil well. The welded steel tubes are smooth to touch, and it is heavy enough not to need bolting to the floor.
I believe this sculpture can be suitable for an outdoor space or indoor atrium. It is an original sculpture, and documented in the Parks, and Recreation Dept. website. It can also be googled under "Little Oil Well". I am an emerging sculptor, and Painter. I am a graduate of The School Of Visual Arts. My name is Martin Ramone Delossantos.
