Sculpture: Clay, Plaster, Gouache on Ceramic.
This is an installation I created while on a scholarship in Brittany, France. It was the final product of my experience there, of my research and study of violence in humans over decades of history. I conducted an intense research of the Second World War, I traveled to Poland and visited the concentration camps, studied the communist prisons in Romania and learned about the Namibia, Congo, Armenian and Romanian genocides, which happened during the past century. I wanted to understand ~why~ and ~how~ humans can become so cruel and violent towards others and this is something I am still working on. My installation was very well received at the Art School where I was studying and was also displayed in multiple art spaces of the city of Rennes. I believe that art is a manifestation and contrary to what is happening in the present day, by contemporary art, I still believe that Art has to have meaning, purpose and content. Through Art things can at least begin to be discussed, if not even changed.
