Lamia Hex of Venezuela Five (1/5) You live, You Die, You Die, a nurse without medical supplies Sculpture

(The piece was damaged while in transit between my apartments. Therefore, I am willing to negotiate on the price to include repair and a special design catalog.). This piece is an architectural allegory about life and current events. The techniques used to make the piece hide the story. Originally, I was inspired by Korean art made out of paper. Rather than directly mimicking the forms, I turned the plexiglass frame inside out. The inverted frames evolved into abstractions of various building façades, all designed by the French architect Jacques Ferrier. Difficulty arose when molding and sculpting the canvas paper into a three dimensional shape. I felt that only part of the original image was necessary, rather than working on a larger scale. Two other elements appear within the piece: an old circuit board and fragments of a broken plate. The plate was one of a few from my grandmother, which I deemed more necessary to break due to frustration with the local environment of Crown Heights. In early 2017, I was in a relationship with another artist who sent me to a store in Canal Street to find more material. All of this also disguises the personal dialogue of dealing with being in between gay and queer culture lines, the conflict between racial and ethnic lines, socioeconomic classification and movement, and growing up within a Conservative Democratic family from Guyana, South America, the relative watching Venezuela’s paralytical.
