Last Night's Fling Sculpture

This artwork is offered to you from my new collection, 'The Upside of Retro'. The sculptural effect of this graceful, cascading drape of reclaimed lacework, 925 sterling silver leaf, resin and wood from an antique frame seems frozen in time. It appears as if it has been flung against the wall, clinging like the transient nature of last night's romantic tryst, a portrayal of the abandonment with which we so easily discard objects. I am deeply concerned about the impact that our insatiable consumption for 'stuff', innocuous products used once then discarded as waste, has on the environment. Much of my studio practice is now dedicated to repurposing and upcycling used objects, many of which are recovered from the streets of New York or saved by like-minded people for me. The 'Upside of Retro' collection showcases unique, visually striking and thought-provoking artworks that combine vibrant and shifting colors with materials such as paint skins, wire mesh, plastics, fabrics, resin and other reclaimed objects. I transform these components into flamboyant objects of desire with tactile surfaces that invite the curious mind to gaze at, touch and own them.
