About The Artwork

Like many artists I am interested in using current technology in my creative process. In the past the definition of a photographic print was to use a camera to recode the physical world. The word camera comes from camera obscura, which means "dark chamber" and is the Latin name of the original device for projecting an image of the external world onto a flat surface. Then a print is made of that 2D image. My third area of research is maybe redefining what a photographic print can be. Now with the advances in technology it is possible to expand the 2D camera image into the world of the 3D Print. I am experimenting using Photogrammetry. Photogrammetry uses methods from many disciplines, including optics and projective geometry, it calculates 3D digital models from several 2D images. The 3D model can then be printed on a 3D printer.
