About The Artwork

Loop is a series of suspended sculptures in brass and clear vinyl that form closed magnetic field lines. Magnetic fields are by their nature invisible yet abound in our natural and artificial environment through the earth’s constant geomagnetic presence and barrage of technology that all emit magnetic fields. This sculpture series animate magnetic fields and the architecture of the unseen landscape to explore alternate geometries in a solid, static state. The brass loop is closed with a hollow vinyl tube. The air within the tube I see as a kind of void that completes the loop. The sculpture is suspended from a monofilament thread, and therefore nearly invisible as the piece gently turns in response to the slightest movement.
