Born in Kraljevo (Serbia) in 1960. Professor at Faculty of Philology and Arts (University of Kragujevac) at Department of Applied and Fine Arts - teaching in painting techniques and technology of painting. Member of ULUPUDS (Serbian Association of Applied Artist and Designers). In 1990 founded the specialized art studio“Atelier Marinkovic” which is engaged in many artistic areas off applied art some of being stained glass, fused glass, mosaic, terracotta, icon painting, conservation and restoration. What makes it unique is specialization and commitment to experiment in discipline of fused glass and classic stained glass, wide offer of standard and custom solutions. ''Nature- born painter-colorist, the artist comprehends glass as the material whith an “identity”, keeping the essence of light inside or lumen-lumini (“ the light of lights”as stained glass was observed by Medieval aesthetics). To move this light which gives the energy to all colors, someone needs a planty of devotion, secret sciences, courage… So, the key words for the Slobodan Marinkovic,s attitude toward designing of glass are: PERMANENT EDUCATION, EXPERIMENT, EXPRESSIONISM. The interlacing of the creative energy in the free painter,s strokes whith the static project of the architecture, has produced a large number of the inventive realisations in the interiors of private, sacral, public, business spaces.Marinkovic is a representative of an important cultural process of the revitalization of Serbian urban spirit which is defining its needs for modern aesthetic surroundings, outside of the middle-class status giving, abstractly shapeless “traditionalism”.Even at the sacral object such is the dining room of the Monastery Zica (two stained glass windows done in 2004 consist of 820 elements each) where exists canonized simbolism, the artist applies original stilisation and bold coloring.
