In the sun-scorched plains of Southern Africa, a curious creature roams the dusty earth - the Meerkat, also known as the Suricate. With a visage of wonder, it flaunts a broad head, large eyes, a pointed snout, long legs, a tapering tail, and a coat adorned with a brindle pattern, evoking awe in all who behold it. These sociable creatures band together in clans of up to 40 members, where each soul bears the weight of the collective. With keen eyes and sharp senses, they scour the terrain for nourishment, keep a watchful eye for predators, and care for their young. In Nic's sculpture, we see a Sentry, standing guard over the innocent ones, while the rest of the clan scours the land for sustenance. Limited edition of 30. One of the most intriguing aspects of these creatures is their water-drinking habits. Unlike most animals, they do not consume water directly. Instead, they derive their moisture from the insects and other foods they consume, enabling them to survive in the arid deserts they call home. As such, the Meerkat is a testament to the ever-captivating ways in which nature adapts to the world around it.

Introducing Nic van Rensburg, a gifted artist born in 1959, whose creations seamlessly intertwine sculptures and paintings, capturing the true essence of wildlife and nature. With an innate ability to infuse life into his art, Nic has developed his distinctive style through keen observation and natural talent, without any formal training. Since 1995, he has turned his passion for art into a lifelong pursuit, dedicating himself to highlighting the beauty of the natural world. His inspiration is drawn from the African bush, where he skillfully portrays the spirit of the animals he encounters. He established his gallery in Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa, and has become a vital member of the local art community. Among the various mediums Nic explores, sculpting holds a special place in his heart. His close proximity to a bronze foundry in Cape Town allows him to be intimately involved with each piece, ensuring unique, high quality art pieces, for art collectors.
