I am a self-taught modern artist, actor, photographer and mastermind of KULIBIN art studio. > KULIBIN studio is an art studio of Viktor Kulibin that unites designers and artists of different creative backgrounds. Everything that comes out of the studio is a blend of concepts in physical and digital forms. Topics explored: Victor explores the topic of society transformation in a modern technological world, where human's attention adopted the role of commodity. Well-known corporations honed the skill of drawing and selling users' attention to advertisers. Technologies of maintaining attention of those in front of the screen are getting smarter every year, because there are hundreds of smart guys working (for good salaries) on the back end, and they do what their corporation's business model tells them. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest… All these giants share a common goal – financial enrichment. Attention mining is incredibly profitable. All that results in polarization of society, fake news, ignorance, digital addiction, election hacking etc. Commercially imposed information and its overconsumption by society is a modern world's social problem, and people must address it. #socialdilemma Techniques and materials: Victor practices an eclectic approach, combining his unique techniques with various traditional ones – calligraphy, abstraction, sculpting and animation. Ultimate variety of physical media allows to communicate ideas in a concise way and involve viewers in communication. Materials and forms in our artworks are always parts of a general concept and can't exist separately. The communicated theme of humans' digital addiction and the collision of bio- and technospheres are reflected in the materials: - black reflective material that is used in most works (a reference to Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror); - yellow flock – a symbol of humans taking endless pleasure from digital corporations' algorithms (flock's soft enticing texture and pleasant yellow color that evoke warm associations wilth yellow emojis) - calligraphy – always in 2 categories: exquisite gothic font as a reference to basic values of Humans and Humanity, and chaotic stenciled or calligraphic scraps of information as a symbol of commercially-imposed informational noise. - wood – a symbol of life and fundamental things. - golden mirror (in the series following 'Icons') as a symbol of new emerging markets – markets of attention.
