Many trips to Mexico and especially Oaxaca to celebrate the Day of the Dead has inspired this 3-dimensional wooden sculpture, embellished with found objects, predominately vintage shoe studs from the 1940’s. My goal is to capture the spirit of this magical celebration remembering the vibrant and sparkling emotions the day carries into the night.

Meet Bobbye Cochran – wander through her private world of memories and experiences – immerse yourself in her vibrant colors and evocative images. Let them speak to you. What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you remember? For years it was almost as if Bobbye’s creative talents had two separate lives. One, very public, shared with her continually growing list of impressive business clients whose products and services sprang to life through logo designs, advertising campaigns and other marketing materials. The other, her very private world, shared only with her family and closest friends. This was a world of compelling portraits, landscapes and fascinating images inspired by her memories, intuitive observations and colorful imagination. She always felt these works of art were personal expressions of her feelings and emotions—reflections of her inner being. They were apart of her and she kept them close. They visualized where the inner Bobbye lived. But it is not easy to keep such talent hidden. Over the years, when Bobbye's friends and family did see her work, they almost always wanted to purchase a favorite piece or prevailed upon her to paint something that they could own and enjoy. She loved that they were showing support for her work but still struggled with the idea of taking her private work public. Then, about ten years ago, a client requested one of Bobbye's paintings for their new corporate lobby. She struggled with her decision but decided that perhaps, it was finally time to go public. Once it was on display, her client shared the compliments and comments they received from visitors. So many saw so much in Bobbye’s work, she began to understand how her art truly affected others. She realized how meaningful it was when others could see their own stories, visions and emotions expressed through her eyes—coming to life with her uncanny use of colors, shapes, and imagination. And in this light, Bobbye now wants others to enjoy, savor and absorb what they will of what she as to offer. Welcome to Bobbye’s world. Enjoy the journey!
