About The Artwork

This project continues the development of the main "paper project" of my creative path. In this project, I take vibrant colors from expensive paper and create intricate abstract compositions. This is a quilling technique, but I have modernized it. I use a special machine where I compress sheets of paper using water. They become very dense. All works are covered with a transparent solution of nitrocellulose, it is deeply absorbed into the paper and protects it. Large pieces are decorated with natural oak frames, made in a specialized workshop. The start of this project was the work of Professor Jordan Peterson, repeating in the title of his book. We can say that this project illustrates the deepest experiences after reading and understanding the meanings of the world. His book Maps of Meanings, and specific psychological research based on the Bible and other archetypal stories helped me cope with a difficult life problem. I coped and passed the tests, and gained a new level of visual perception, expressed in these works. Also, here you can see a visual study of the structure of the world. by Pavel Filinov. I continue his work and develop it. Universal Flowering (Mirovoi rastsvet) is the name given by Pavel Filonov to his system of analytical art. The system arose from cubo-futurist experiments and works that he undertook from 1913-1915. It is characterized by very dense, minutely facetted, and relatively flat surfaces created by working from the particular to the general, using the smallest of brushes and the sharpest of pencils. The images have both Cubism's multiple vantage points and Futurism's representation of a figure over time. A number of the paintings, while having a given orientation, are painted as though they could be oriented in a variety of ways. Filonov's philosophy was originally formalized in written form in 1915, which was revised and published as The Declaration of Universal Flowering in 1923 when Filonov was a professor at the (then) Petrograd Academy of Arts. Filonov's main theoretical work The Ideology of Analytical Art (Ideologia analiticheskogo iskusstva) was published in 1930. For the last 4 years I have been in an art residence in the country of Montenegro. I was greatly influenced by the local nature and mountains. Mountains that twist the earth's landscape to face you. They inspired me to create these cards. Also, I was influenced by the strong psychedelic experience I got there. All this led to the disintegration of my family and my return to my homeland in Russia. These pictures convey the very chaos of life described by Jordan Peterson and the struggle of human thought for order and life. This series of works fluctuates between vibrant "acidic" landscapes and calm and natural colors. This is the story of my life's swing. This is a very personal story. Biological beings, cells, molecules move to mountains, plains and seas from space photography: I immerse all this in a paper medium. This allows you to create very complex and proven compositions of the finest lines and spots. These pieces are the true product of my long and personal experience with paper.
