Pedestal contains characteristic small cracks wchich are desirable for this variant of marble. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is only one small mine of this beautiful Debnik marble in Poland, mining ended in early 1990's. About Debnik marble: Mining and processing of this Devonian marble, which is about 385 million years old, began at the beginning of the 14th century near Krzeszowice. The black color comes from the presence of bituminous substances, the lighter varieties lost their original colour as a result of the impact of hot magma. You can encounter varieties more knobbly and cut with bright veins of calcite mineral. Occasionally, the fauna is found - branches of Amphiphora ramosa, sometimes brachiopods or coral shafts.
