"Metamorphosis" Sculpture

"Metamorphosis" The work shows the artist's understanding of the evolution. The prehistoric fish celicant (latimeria) caught the artist's attention by its unusual aspect and structure. Perhaps, in the prehistoric times these fish were the first ones that moved to the land. The symbolism of the fish has many meanings. Since the very old times the fish is symbolizing teachers, world saviors, ancestors and wisdom. The artist knowingly shows the different texture of the human body appearing from the fish's scales. She plays with contract by using different kinds of patina and bronze finishing - the scales covered by dark patina contrast with the transparent patina finish of the human body. The base made of unakite deserves a special attention. The unakit complement the artistic image by dark tones of green with unusual mineral incrustations imitating bronze effects.
