About The Artwork

Through a series of works called "The Searching", created during 2020., featuring maze motivs, I explore my own journey through life and the various situations that life brings to us. With each new day, we are put into a particular maze and set out to search for a middle ground, a goal, a solution. Along the way, we come across a mix of intricate paths, some of which are just there to confuse and distract us from the challenge, all kinds of challenges and obstacles. In the 21st century, we live an accelerated life, where one has little time to devote to oneself, to listen to one's inner voices, and is involved in a series of actions that draw his attention. I am engaged in exploring the relation of the visible and the invisible in man, physical and psychological, external and internal. Along the way, or through the process we go through, we face many dangers, experience different emotions, reach for certain instincts. There are many roads ahead of us, where each man has a choice and is put into battle with himself. Our labyrinth is our environment, though often we are not even aware that we are in a labyrinth, which constantly tends to trap us. Through it we also encounter fears. It is a fear characterized by ignorance about what to choose, what to do, where to go. Psychologically, we are placed in a labyrinth, and although there are no narrow corridors, we are psychologically trapped. We are in a maze of thoughts, where we ask ourselves the question of why we live, who we are, where we go, why we create. Walking through the maze, we are careful not to repeat the same mistakes, trying to identify those places we have already gone through and look at what paths we have left unexplored. We all have our ancient monsters that we face and fight, even though they do not possess a physical body, the doubts, worries, fears and insecurities live inside us. The word maze itself is thought to be derived from the Greek word labrys- double ax and inthos, meaning place. In a psychological sense, Labrys is a symbol of the willpower by which man harmonizes himself, mastering his lower nature in his psychic labyrinth. The maze is one of the ancient universal symbols of the path to the center that we find in most cultures on all sides of the world. Originally, mazes were associated with religious rites, births and deaths. In some parts of Europe, labyrinths were carved into the stones of tombs, and it is believed that the first labyrinths originated in Scandinavia and were used during many dance rituals, especially between men and women who danced in a spiral manner, to eventually join together found in the center of the maze. According to the form, the maze is a combination of roads among which there is only one that can reach the center of the maze, or its exit. There are a lot of roads we have, but some of them have no exits. Whether square, circular or otherwise, the lines that make up it are in some ways a mystery. Each maze is an idea in itself, it is enigmatic in itself. My goal is to explore myself and give myself the answers to crucial existential questions, but also to remind the observer to enter his or her own maze and to deal with itself.
