"Anthracite Layers" - wood wall relief

This original hand carved paulownia wood wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skilful Bulgarian contemporary sculptor Nikolay Martinov, deeply inspired by geometry, minimalism and op art. Anthracite is a chalky and earthy near-black or very dark gray. Anthracite itself is a form of coal used in thermal power stations for generating electricity. The color comes from this object. Anthracite has some nuance and sophistication from the pure black color. It appears slightly softer and without the harsh contrast of black. It also appears slightly warmer and more naturalistic especially if it has more of a green-gray tinge. Anthracite Layers is one extraordinary wood masterpiece and exquisite home wall decor.
