About The Artwork
Much of my work is inspired by memories of childhood when I was able to live close to a beautiful beach with sand and rock in the foreground and a bay and mountains in the distance. Rock,driftwood, and water were my everyday play materials. The geometry suggested by the use of the square and centred white disk add counterpoint in many of my works.

I started as a photographer when in my mid-teens I was hired as a street photographer at a holiday resort in England. Later, under Victor Pasmore and Richard Hamilton, I studied Fine Arts at the University of Durham. In Canada, I am Professor Emeritus at the University of Regina and was formerly Adjunct Professor at New York University. Currently I am Artist in Residence at the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society, University of Victoria.
