“Motion" Sculpture Dove Gray Indiana Limestone 18" x 18" x 24" 650 lbs. Approx. This for Motion only. Does not include Pedestal. Pedestal is extra Motion is for inside or outside installation The sculpture Motion is one of the Motion Series of sculptures. It joins other sculptures that include: Embark, Hansou, Kai, Kinpaku, Mizushou, Momentum, Nami 2, Oonami, Precipice, Skating, Soushi, Soushi2, Ugokasu, Ukei, and Uzushio. The genesis of the sculpture Motion was two-fold. I wanted a larger outdoor sculpture that would convey movement - ceaseless, never-tiring movement. Motion was conceived to represent a busy commercial district or busy commuters using a rail station. Motion is closely related to Kai, Nami 2, and Precipice. About the Motion Series Movement is an unusual activity to catch in stone. Stone Sculpture is noted for being solid, rooted to the ground, and unchanging. Exploring unanticipated action is the common feature of the Motion Series. A sculpture caught in the act of falling, another sculpture caught just before it is ready to leap off its' base, another seemingly moving effortlessly across its' base. All of these are displaying that elusive stone quality - movement. For more information & pictures about Motion: http://www.wsggallery.com/Sculpture-Pages/Motion-Sculpture.htm

Carl Wright is an award-winning sculptor and gallery owner. Carl studied art at the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, & Frostburg State University. He received a Regents Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shepherd University with focus on Fine Arts in 1996. In 1988 he co-founded the WSG Gallery , a gallery focused on sculpture, painting & fine art. He is represented by three galleries & select art consultants. Some sculpture highlights are: a sculpture in a biotech headquarters in Durham, NC, a sculpture in a Fortune 500 Executives' home in Zug Switzerland, exterior sculpture in the prestigious Northshore Sculpture Park, an exterior sculpture at the Courthouse Galleries in Portsmouth, VA from Feb. 2011 to Nov. 2011, permanent installation in Charlotte, NC & Mount Dora, FL & a temporary installation in Rockville, MD from May 2013 - Oct. 2013. He has participated in seven Public Art Exhibitions, participated in 11 gallery shows & six juried museum shows. Carl shows his love of shape, color, texture, & storytelling by carving abstract stone sculptures that can be divided into five different themes. These themes are: the Music Series, the Striving Series, the Motion Series, the Tranquil Series, & the Exuberant Series. The Music, Tranquil & Exuberant Series are his series on uplifting life-affirming topics such as tranquility, emotional bonds, & how music knits together the tapestry of life. These sculptures give a respite from the day's work & are a singular joy to be around. The Striving & Motion Series are more reflective of the hurly-burly environment that most commuters & workers encounter in their day to day environment. These sculptures reflect themes of busyness, constant motion & moving towards professional/career goals.
