About The Artwork

I find these pieces of clay on the beach. I call them 'mudstones' to denote their origin and form. They are created by the process of attrition as chunks of clay are broken off underwater banks, brought ashore by wave action, and then rolled up and down the beach by the twice-daily tides. The back of the work is titled, signed and dated. There’s a metal plate above a shallow recess to hook over a screw fixing in the wall.
