This is a sculpture of an Atlantic Murex. I carved it from a single piece of Italian Alabaster. I live on the Atlantic Coast and am inspired by the wildlife native to my environment

An internationally collected sculptor, he works in both Bronze and Stone. His subject matter is almost exclusively wildlife indigenous to his home in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He chooses to sculpt animals that he knows and with which he has contact. He draws inspiration from the beauty that surrounds him and that he can observe daily. A few recent projects have been a 6ft tall bronze eagle for The Citadel in Charleston, SC., A nine bronze sculpture installation located in Marion Square in Charleston, and 6 baby bronze loggerheads for the town of Isle of Palms, SC. Along with winning numerous awards, he has been hired to sculpt many commissions and public installations. He is a signature member of The American Society of Marine Artist and a member of The National Sculpture Society. He has had several solo exhibitions and exhibits at prestigious art shows around the country. His work is highly sought after and found in many corporate and private collections. He received his art degree from Appalachian State University. Having an intense passion for the coast, he moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina following graduation and worked as a commercial fisherman and as an exhibit designer for The North Carolina Aquarium. Later he moved to Charleston, South Carolina to study Marine Biology at the College of Charleston. There he worked as an eco-tour guide at Kiawah Island and a licensed historical tour guide for the City of Charleston. Choosing art over science, he moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico to study with the artist Jan D’Esopo. There he continued his education in art and focused on bronze casting. After 3.5 years, he and his wife returned to Charleston, and chose to work as full-time artist while raising two children.
