Art Description

Sculpture: Fiberglass, Metal, Paint and Spray Paint on Aluminium and Other.

The forbidden sculptures of Nefertiti collection.

The Nefertiti Bust sculpture was found in the workshop of the sculptor Thutmose the Pharaoh’s favorite sculptor. It was a model for official portraits and was used by the master sculptor for teaching his pupils how to carve. The beautifully painted lime stone head became a cultural symbol of ancient Egypt and Nefertiti became the most famous women of the ancient world and an icon of feminine beauty. This inspired the story behind my new collection.

It is quite possible that the sculptor has fallen in love with the Queen, just by looking at the portrait of her head every day. Of course it was forbidden for him to show his emotion. So he started creating in a hidden place, working on a full figurative sculpture presenting the queen Nefertiti in shapes never done before. Inspired by the beauty of the young queen, he could imagine the full figure just by looking at the face and neck. The artist has hidden his collection in a secret location that nobody would discover.

Maybe the queen too has fallen in love with the sculptor and asked him to create new sculptures that were beyond his time but he had no chance to present it to her and they are still hidden somewhere. Or perhaps, she requested the sculptures to be created in order to gift them to the visitors from the stars.

Perhaps this story is real or perhaps it is not true. However, the question is how one of the best sculptor’s in his time did not fall in love with the queen just looking at her portrait every day.

My new collection, The forbidden sculptures of Nefertiti is inspired by these stories.
