Nierika / Deer Raising The Sun Sculpture

I learnt the Huichol Art through a discipline, that is the Temazcal; indigenous people like Huicholes they don’t do Temazcal because of their geographic area; but somehow people learnt how to do Temazcal through the Huichol knowledge and thats how i could learnt their art. Their cosgomy is really beautiful but also hard ; this particular work art that i made explain a legend and also the truth about their belief. Huichol people believe that god is every where even in every material pieces, in animals, water, fire, wind, and some other things, like the deer. Through the deer god lives and provides the peace that you need it to keep going in your life, and it teaches you being a better person but also it asks for a payment to be absolutely honest with the people that you are in touch with and with yourself. About the art craft In the body of the deer you can see his heart that is in the middle of the body, but actually is not in the real position; then fire in the middle of eveything the fire is a grandfather , the one that can purge the things that hurt us, we give the things that we don’t want anymore. So the four spirits are around the fire talking to him. And in the real position of the deers heart you can see the wolf waiting the snake to raise and eat the medicine. But theres a legend when all the animals were around the fire asking where would be the right time to raise the sun. So everyone tried to raise the sun but no one could because it burned, so the one that could was the deer with his big horns could raise the sun to beggin the first dawn in the humanity. The framework is cedar veneer and is cutted by a CNC router, the art is made by chaquira and stamen. And it will be wonderfull if is installed in a wall that has minimun 3.00 meters height or in a space that has a double height. Hope you like it. Thanks very much. E.
