'No Pressure Then' is a social commentary on the pressures of young women today. The sculpture was created over 5 years in cross-stitch and paint, through a marriage, pregnancies and two baby and toddlerhoods. With more choice than ever before it can feel overwhelming with the media showing these superwomen who appear to juggle it all. The sculpture merges the Disney Princess with, women from the Radio 4 'Power List' and images depicting the various choices a woman can make or have made for her, marriage, children etc etc. The painted text brings it all to a frustrated, messy conclusion.
