Ophelia Sculpture

This piece was made as a sort of ode to the pre raphaelites. The subject mater is Ophelia from Shakespeares Hamlet. The dark theme of her tragic death resonates with me and some of the struggle I had personally growing up as an assertive woman in the conservative south. I wanted the moment to seem beautiful but still. Vulnerable, but also powerful, her breasts bare, this piece emulates the essence of femininity. This is a wall piece. It is 3 dimensional but is intended to hang on the wall, it has a picture wire. The "water" is made with parafin wax and dried flowers and is therefore somewhat fragile.
