About The Artwork

Author : Kim Kiyong Theme : Meltdown – cold abstraction coated with hot abstraction Material : Stainless Steel A drawing-majored painter, living 10 years at industrialized working place, learning worldly affairs through study, continuously looking the art world in stance of the third person, finally has made his piece with a welding machine (not with a brush) using in-factory-acquired welding technique. There is not a faster method which combines individual pieces than welding. Meltdown is a welding principle which makes two more individual pieces stick together fastestly when they melt down parts of themselves and blended each other and hardened. Futhermore this is a principle of harmony that human race should always pursue. - Cold abstraction coated with hot abstraction - Contemporary Art pursues dissolution excessively and even dissolves sense of value which should be kept unchangeable, therefore arouses social confusions. The Author’s work is an expressin of a critical viewpoint about this artistic phenomenon of contemporary art. The author is saying that ‘coating’ is a dissolving, nonetheless preserving sense of value.
