Push in the corner is a large wall sculpture made from fir wood with mixed painting techniques (resin, acrylic, powder paint …). Wood as a semi-dynamic material creates the identity of my work. For this purpose, I apply special cutting and carving methods, paintings, perspectives, depths and many different techniques in my works in the most organic way. In this work, which consists of 6000 pieces in total, I created a metropolis from 1x1 cm cubes with different heights. In my works, I don't use any ready-made materials, and every single piece of material is going through an organic production process. These processes are challenging and time consuming to shed light on me and my collectors that make my works valuable. I spent two and a half months to finish this art work in total. I leave my dreams free for the formation of my work, and formally I imagine the picture of the final version of it. The theme of this work is the damage that caused by urbanization and the great threat to our future. In an endless world of our lives, desires and wishes which imprisoned in a labyrinth with no entrance and exit, with the transformation of urbanization into a modern bomb, global destruction for humanity has already begun.

Koray Akay was born in 1984 in Ankara, Turkey. He studied Industrial Electronics. In 2004 he established his own studio where he started his painting work. Then, he produced his first work using wooden material. His multimedia practice includes wood wall sculpture, paintings, installation, digital painting. He delves into the living veins of wood, and without damaging its natural living quality, adds the light of his own consciousness to turn it into a work of art in which all his wishes are expressed in a new language.
