About The Artwork
Like the other lady in this series, she is a passionate woman with serious complaints about the world and her fate. She is clearly angry at the gods above. She is made of real Dutch clay which I harvested myself in the polder in the North of the city. This clay is very dark and fatty in its unbaked state. And when baked they turn into the beautiful brick orange so traditional to the Netherlands.

I mostly make little women Ik maak vrouwtjes Mostly out of clay, but I love casting them in bronze or sculpting out of stone. I suppose my little women are me, but they turn out exactly the way they want. Shy, bored, seriously pissed off, it is surprising to me how expressive they are. My inspiration come from the great sculpture such as Marino Marini and Charlotte van Palandt.
