Faced with a new situation or social group, people act from their natural instinct for adaptation. In contemporary society, the individual must associate with numerous social groups, which rotate and evolve at a rapid pace, so that the individual must quickly adapt to a continuously changing environment. In order to do so, individuals sometimes make use of adjustment mechanisms of which they themselves are unaware. Such mechanisms sometimes cause psychological conflict, as reality is accepted without previously resolving inner conflicts. I make me today and remove at the same time.
