Cast in Stainless Steel, polished in mirror reflective finish, on painted Italian Marble base, Abstract Contemporary. Limited Edition 7/12 (only 1 available). Editions 1 through 6 have been sold, and this is the only piece left that is currently made. It took 5 years for the Artist to complete the first 7 edition and will only make 12 of this design in his lifetime (which would be 5 pieces left to make in backordered). The type of steel used is valued for its anti-corrosion properties. The material is Type 316-L, which has the superior aesthetic quality grade that provides a much higher degree of corrosion resistance (the “L” stands for low carbon, making it softer but more corrosion resistant after contact with water). Stainless Steel casting is a specialized form of casting and is more difficult to cast than iron or other steel. It has a higher melting point of 3000°F (1,649°C) and greater shrinkage rate, which requires detailed consideration during mold design. The finishing is mirror polished. It is labor intensive to achieve this type of finish requiring series of steps to bring out its everlasting properties. However, once achieved, it will only require minimum maintenance of occasional hand wax. This piece can be placed either indoor or outdoor and can be incorporated with water feature and/or light. White powder-coated stainless steel pedestal to fit the sculpture is available for separate purchase. Please email for inquiries on installation or placement ideas of sculpture. If placing the sculpture outdoor, maintenance will be minimal since the materials for this piece are resistant to harmful elements. The mirror-polish finish allows elegant reflection of the stainless steel to look completely natural while being protected from those elements. The sculpture should be cleaned periodically as needed. To remove dirt and maintain the mirror-finish, use windex with a microfiber soft cloth. No steel wool, no Ajax abrasive powder, chemicals, or abrasives of any kind. Carnuaba wax can be applied once a year. The Artist will include one set of cleaning kit with purchase of sculpture. Ryan T. Schmidt is a stainless steel artist for over 15 years. The main concept of his creation is the reflection of the outside world on the sculpture. He puts a lot of effort to each piece of work. Through the smooth curves, sleek lines and rounds, his works bring out the feel of free flowing spirit. His mission is to share the gift of inspiration with the desire to build sculptures that will last generations.
