This unique work was made by uniting two mountain tapestries. The two tapestries were first made separate pieces and then reassembled in a new composition. The pieces were then sewn together to create a single piece of art. The colors and textures of the two tapestries were blended together to create a unique landscape that is both abstract and insightful. It will be shipped rolled and is ready to be hanged.

Colombia
Vanessa Valero is a Colombian-based textile artist. She is a process-centered creator capturing the ephemerality of the human-nature connection in one-of-kind hand-tufted pieces. Valero’s process reflects the delicacy seen in the interdict between humans’ experience of nature and nature’s experience of humans that she displays through her works. The moments that begin Valero’s works are passing moments in the natural world, captured from time and space through observations, sketching, and preserved in each textile design. From inspiration to exhibition, Valero makes intentional design decisions to give her works over to its viewer; evoking the same response as she had when she saw it in the natural world: fleeting joy and reflexive contemplation. This kind of powerful effect is seen throughout all of her creations. The current works of Vanessa Valero are inspired by the moors throughout Bogota Colombia. Her collection, Landscape Dialogues, as seen in Binnelle Design (BID) Madrid 2020, exhibits ubiquitous creations using fibers and other raw materials affording the landscape and viewer to be in dialogue with each other. Valero’s musings of the natural world began during her time in Scandinavia. Valero’s time in Finland and Iceland were crucial to her development as an artist and as a scholar. She received her Masters of Arts in Textile Design from Aalto University in Finland. While working on her thesis at Aalto, Valero won the Carpet Design Contest (2015) for the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, sponsored by the museum and the corporation, Desso. The design for the competition was inspired by the way light plays in the natural winter world. The time she spent in these breathtaking landscapes engendered a resolve within Valero to share glimpses of the world around her. Valero has also exhibited at Colombia’s Feria Del Millon, both in Colombia and in New York City during Frieze and NY Design Week(2022).Valero’s work has been featured in AD Mexico.
