Sarah Edwards - The Guardians Sculpture

Inspiration for the Library Box: Bold and compelling imagery is what attracted me to books when I was a kid, so I wanted to use bright colors and large subject matter on the box. White rabbits are a common theme in my work and with the proportions of the library box, the rabbits became like tall statues on both sides of the books, almost like guards of the stories within. I think that the power of stories manifests in imagery as well as in words, I hope that the box can take on its own narrative. Favorite book from childhood: Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak
