'School of Life' is a side table, hand sculpted in a single piece of reclaimed mango wood. Peter sculpted this piece which depicts a single school of fish moving in one direction. Peter playfully brought his sense of wanting to do things differently to this sculpted form, "if you look closely you will find that some are swimming against the order...there are always some of us who choose to move against the trend and go in our own direction". 'School of Life' is a solid side table with a round glass table top, allowing the sculpture to be seen in all its glory, including the rippled top, which represents the surface of the water. In pursuing our belief that art should be accessible and fill homes with personality, Peter wanted this to be a statement piece of functional art that should be touched and bring something new to the eye each time it is viewed.

Artist Profile: Peter Noel Hanson Background: My artistic journey is a fusion of diverse cultural experiences, having grown up in the UK, Malaysia, Sierra Leone, and The Netherlands. This rich tapestry of influences has profoundly shaped my artistic perspective. Artistic Style: I am a sculptor specializing in wood carvings and I love the craftsmanship of creating and making pieces by hand. I aim for an interplay between the realms of realism and abstraction, to create a dynamic interplay of form and emotion. I find the interaction between various cultures important to highlight and own existence as a person from 2 different cultures will always play a major role in my work. Signature Creations: My unique contribution to the art world lies in the creation of mini tableaus, which I've named 'Prototypes', crafted from repurposed materials. Each piece is a testament to my commitment to sustainability and a reflection of the beauty that can emerge from the discarded. My wood pieces are made of reclaimed, re-used or found wood Old wood carries stories and memories in it, which always adds a extra element to my pieces and I'm intrigued by the whole process of working the wood and giving it new meaning. Inspirations: I am a true eclectic and draw my inspiration from a myriad of sources. Literature, sci-fi, my formative years in Sierra Leone, The UK, Malaysia and the Netherlands, music, contemplative walks, the kaleidoscope of humanity, art in its many forms, and the wonders of the natural world all find a place in my work. I used art as a means to de-traumatize children affected by civil war in West Africa from 2002 - 2016, there I saw how art in it's many forms can truly reach the soul and be a positive force for change, love, unity and peace. Themes: Discover how each hand carved artwork not only represents spiritual artistry, but also contributes to reforestation, local well-being and CO2 compensation in Sierra Leone (West Africa), thanks to my collaboration with Plant N Boom (Plant a Tree), founded by my brother. My work reflects my engagement with themes ranging from historical narratives to the beauty of our surroundings and the beauty of the cultures of this world. My creations invite viewers to explore the intricate connections between humanity, nature, and the evolving tapestry of time. Achievements: My work has an innovative approach and, I hope, the ability to evoke both nostalgia and a sense of wonder.
