About The Artwork
Sea Globes are made in my studio on the west coast of Wales and are inspired by the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline and living on the west coast. Using complex multiple firing techniques I am able create stunning effects on this simple globe form. Each of my pieces are unique and evoke a feeling of what exists on this dramatic coastline portrayed in a very abstract and contemporary way. Sea Globes are sculptural pieces of work and are non functional.

Richard's work is influenced by the stunning coastal setting of his studio and the connection to its industrial past. Some of Richard's work has been described as abstract impressionism using ceramics as his vehicle to evoke a feeling or essence of what exists in his coastal environment. Whereas some work pushes the boundaries into pop art and pop ceramics. Richard has a genuine interest in architecture and this is reflected in the strong forms he creates with clay.
