Sculpture, Bronze on Bronze
Size: 9.8 W x 22 H x 9.8 D in
Ships in a Crate
This sculpture was created as one of a set of four meditating figures which explore an inner search of our identity as humans from various perspectives . This was inspired by the thought of what it means to be human now and the future in this new age of ever evolving technology The sculpture was created in microcrystalline wax on a steel armature which allowed for the detailed surface work to be created . It was moulded and cast into bronze to retain the intricate surface detail . The figure was mounted on a pin to create a floating effect to reinforce the idea of meditation A classic figurative style was chosen to maintain simplicity to express meditation . This figure represents the avoidance of true introspection. It is an attempt to see what we want to see . Soul searching through the lens of the ego. The anvil ironically symbolises the advent of massive intellectual and technical advancement but remains a crude ineffectual method to bring one closer to the nature of their true existence.

Rory Prinsloo / Visual Artist Born in Johannesburg 1964 Rory works from his studio in Johannesburg Lanseria as well as his studio in Italy. His art is created as a result of wanting to express his thoughts about life and existence. This theme is present in all the work he creates. Sometimes subtly and at times dominant but always forms the basis of the intent of his work . Rory has produced a lot of commercial art work for his mannequin business over the last 25 years and a small amount of his own inspired visual art during that time. Currently he is working almost full time on a series of personal visual art projects. These projects include sculpture , drawing , painting and prints .
