Sculpture: parrafin wax , Debris, Wood, Spray Paint on Other.
This sculpture belongs to a series of self-portrait in which the artist investigates the relationship between self and other. An idealized form of self is cast in translucent paraffin wax and embedded with the smashed possessions of other people. This links the sculpture to the video work in which the artist a hammer printed with his self-portrait to smash these possessions. Link:
In terms of form, the sculpture could be perceived as a monument to self -determination and individual power, but the fragile and dingy material suggests the opposite. They indicate a temporality of power and the filth that corrupts the individual from within.
