Patula Berm studied Theatre Design at the Academy Of Fine Arts in Utrecht. Then she focussed on making her sculptural work such as dresses of glas, corsets, lamps, mirrors, wall- and tablejuwels and brooches. Using glass and mixed media. Her glass dresses are inspired by a tale over a group of women at a dinner party beneath the deep sea. After their lavish banquet they embark upon a journey through the sea adorning themselves with all that they see along the way. The corsets are also inspired by nature and beautiful paintings. She's using these themes as a means of studying various materials. Her combinations are primary slumped and lampwork glass, porcelain, oistershells, copper and curlers. Her work evokes feelings of a baroque play and draws you to the world of Romanticism. She creates her work in her studio in Amsterdam. She has exhibited extensively in Holland and abroad and her work can be seen in public and private collections, including cruise ships, restaurants and living rooms.
