Sara trained under Ken Hughes, a pupil of Henry Moore, at Bath Academy of Art. Working in a variety of scales commissions have included a public art commission for Kandahar Real Estate for Droitwich Spa, sculptures for Volkswagen, the Nordic Swimming Federation, and creating the iconic "Spirit of Flight" for the OAG "˜Airline of the Year Awards'.. Currently she is working on a commission for the Royal Canadian Air Force Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum and two sculptures for Carillion PLC to be sited in Worcester My sculptures take a light hearted view of the world, they explore our enjoyment of life and how in our image conscious world we wear sunglasses, go bare footed, teeter on impossible heels, and carry expensive handbags all for others to take note of. Influences Rodin - described sculpture as drawing in space, Giaccometti - exploration the human condition Egyptian and Etruscan Art - Simplicity of line and for their vivid representation of the subject matter's social economic status. Picasso for his light inventive energy. Early figurative sculptures were made in the life room Life drawing important for its rigour Interest in movement and balance Humour light hearted Narrative - each piece tells a story Commissions - enjoy the dialogue and exploration of diverse subject matter Experiences filter through to work eventually
