This series “Hookers, Lookers and Celebrity Suckers”, began with my travels around South Africa’s Cape.
A friend facilitated an opportunity for me to observe the sex workers and their associates.
Each figure in the series, is a character I studied during that time. The resulting sculptures are an ongoing series that began during the mid-1990’s.
I created this sculpture in plaster, then ‘dressed’ her using mirror mosaic, paint, treated rolled lead, gems and found objects. All this creates an encrusted patina, with an individuality that forms the character of each piece.
This is an on-going series, now focusing on the celebrities in life.

(NB Sucker was completed in 2011, but began earlier. Her head can be removed, for ease of packing)

UK The inspiration for my art comes from dreams, myths, travels and intuition. My works are mainly figurative and my root influences are what I experience, (the pain and pleasure of life). I believe that creativity is a pathway to the soul, it both expresses and illuminates.
