About The Artwork

Inspiration This ceramic sculpture falls under my series called Open Sculptures. These investigate ways of seeing inside and out space using colour and line. The intention is to draw and scatter the eye to investigate different parts of the form simultaneously. With this ceramic sculpture I have continued to investigate space through a geometric from to invite curiosity and an experience. I also decided to use porcelain to open up a new possibility as I like the whiteness of its colour. I called this piece Sumer Vibes as the colours got me thinking about the heat of the summer, I picture myself enjoying a ice-cream! Information about this artwork This ceramic sculpture is made from singular cones that were thrown on the potters wheel, cut up and joined together to create a whole form. Medium: Porcelain, vitreous slips, clear glaze, multiple fired to a final temperature of 1220c. Created: 19/5/2021 Sculpture Dimensions: H23 W23 D15 Ready to be displayed indoors only. Original handmade free standing sculpture. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Ships in a securely packed cardboard box "box within a box" protected by bubble wrap and loose fill.

I am a multimedia artist based in Somerset UK creating ceramic sculpture and painting. Why do I create art? Through art, I am able to step back and breathe in the beauty of exploration and self-discovery. Art provides me the freedom to explore my human potential and my desire to keep learning about myself and the world around me. What inspires me? The ancient monument Stonehenge, located not too far away from my studio, serves as a constant source of inspiration. The towering stones beckon me to question the mysteries of, belief, spirituality, time, space, the nature of reality, society and the human experience. What is my Art? I channel these ideas into my art. The results are unique and quirky, colourful, vibrant with a hint of depth, engineered with attention to detail, a study of the effects of form, colour and light. It is Abstract and Surreal, reflecting the world we inhabit and partly escaping it. When it comes to materials I don’t like to limit myself. For my sculptures I use a verity of clays, vibrant colours and glossy glazes. My paintings uncover an amalgamation newspaper, colourful oozing acrylic paints, reflective varnished surfaces and unconventional household paints. The sky is the limit! My Mission? My mission is to create art that can enhance, add value and uniqueness to any space or home. I would like it to transport you to a place of curiosity and imagination.
