About The Artwork

Ceramic wall sculpture of a female figure standing within her landscape. The female form within an extended background forms my 'canvas' on which explore a variety of ideas and images. This sculpture is not a carved relief but a 3 dimensional form with curves and shapes that reveal themselves as you move in front of the artwork. This sculpture is individually hand-built in clay and painted with layers of clay slip and glaze before firing to create a unique artwork. Strung at the back for easy hanging this sculpture is suitable for any interior space, including bathrooms. Not suitable for outdoors.

Eve Olsen is a sculptor and digital print maker. In her print work Eve has made a conscious decision not to use digital ‘brushes’ that replicate traditional mediums and their techniques. Instead she employs traditional media on paper and photographs of her sculpture's surfaces to create her own unique digital mark making. Eve’s artworks are a realm of colourful semi-abstract illustrative narratives. They are akin to snapshots of everyday occurrences corrupted by extraneous quirks. Moments curated through a heat haze, a moving vehicle, a glimpse in a crowd, a flash of light, a reflection or a distraction. Glitches of light and colour caught on our retina that we are left to decipher, savour and embellish. To interpret this playful reality, figures and objects are reduced almost to silhouette then layered into broken compositions of powerful blocks of colour, texture and pattern. Eve is currently turning her attention to printing on surfaces of metal, plastic and concrete.
