ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Currently this book is in a gallery in The Hague. You can still buy it but it takes longer to reach you because I have to get it from the gallery and then send it to you. The book in the box has 134 different edited pages. I use various kinds of paper such as retro wallpaper, japanese rice paper and silk paper that I assemble and manipulate by folding or sewing, stamping with indonesian textile stamps, add thread between papersheets or sew on the paper or edit them with paint. The book is sewn by hand in a loose manner so you can still see threads hanging. It is a bit messy and that's just what I am looking for. You can write on the pages but do not use fountain pens or pens that contain alcohol, it will bleed. You can add photo's to the book, in this way it really becomes your book. The book fits into a handmade cassette. On each cover I present a collage of items e.g. small objects found in nature, folded bundles of silk, embroidered french poems, calligraphed fragments of paper and origami animals. These collages are carefully thought over and I always make lots of photos of various compositions before I decide. It is not possible to personalize the box and book.
