Teardrop Supernova was inspired by an international team of astronomers who discover a teardrop shaped star that it predicts is about to explode in a supernova. The pull of the white dwarf is so great that it will eventually cause the teardrop shaped star to explode and consume both. The tears I have that explode and consume me are a reminder that we are all connected and that gives me hope. In making the work I felt the folding of washi to make the shape and using natural indigo dyes and pigment creating the universal shades of blue with 22ct moon gold leaf . This Teardrop Supernova II is the second in the Universe series. It is beautifully framed in a clear recycled acrylic box frame and ready to hang. The clear framing allows the subtle sublime shadows to emerge beyond the frame. You can play with your lighting or natural light to effect.

Exhibiting international and national award winning artist who practice also includes commission for commercial as well as private collectors. Creative artist making meaningful inspiriting poetic art to cherish.Indigo because it colours everything, all emotion, our fragile planet, our universe. Madder is the colour of open flesh, wounds and healing, love and heartbreak" Indigo, 6000 years of historical importance that continues to inspires me. I make my own non-toxic fermentation indigo vats using century old recipe, plant dyes and pigments from the Earth on washi, wool, silk, this contrasted with industrial materials- cast iron, steel, concrete, engages me in a dialogue that creates a deeper connectedness to being. The tension of light, ephemeral and heavy dark industry produces a emotional experience. I find the dust and grime ingrained surfaces, when the edges worn with layers of time, muted colours greyed into man made materials. The experience of being in a rivers current and looking up through the heavy deep grey black blue sky to a ray light reflecting back.
