About The Artwork
The buried blooming territories (1997) - Die verschütteten blühenden Landschaften, Marco Hofmann The former german chancellor Helmut Kohl promised 1990 blooming territories after the german reunion. After the first years of euphoria and happiness a rising unemployment rate changed into skepticism and nostalgia among the formerly divided countries. The artwork was made out of styrofoam, mechanical parts, dried flowers, dust and typewriter ribbon. Everything got buried under wax poured out of a broken porcelain.
