About The Artwork

"There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors." ~Jim Morrison... This piece consists of bead embroidery on felt. Tiny glass seed beads and French steel cut beads were stitched by hand 2-3 at time using a strong nylon thread. Opalite beads were used for headlights, clear vinyl for windows, and Ultrasuede and zipper wire for tires. The door actually slides open and closed. It moves across 2 pieces of sterling silver wire, and closes with a tiny piece of velcro. The beadwork was stitched to a handmade shadow box which consists of acid-free matboard, is lined with acrylic-painted canvas paper, and is covered in blue Ultrasuede. Collaged images of a famous rock star are inside the bus. The bus is designed to appear that it sits on only one front wheel, but a small handmade wire stand is also included to hide under that wheel to help take some of the weight of the piece. MEDIA: glass seed beads, mixed media DIMENSIONS: 14" x 8" x 4.5" SOLD.
