It's autumn and the last leaves cling to the tree as the wind moves through the branches. This drawing has been inspired by my favourite tree and was created with a 3D pen and TPU flexible filament. Working with a 3D pen is literally drawing with plastic. The heated filament comes out of the pen in a soft, melted line which sticks to itself to form the drawing/sculpture. TPU has the characteristics of both plastic and rubber and is known for its durability, flexibility, and excellent tensile strength. The drawing is attached to a wooden dowel and although it is substantial enough to hang beautifully, it is incredibly light in weight which makes hanging the piece a very simple operation. You can even use a self adhesive wall hook. Please note that this artwork needs a plain, light coloured wall and would be lost against a patterned or dark background.

United Kingdom
Paula grew up in the beautiful city of York in the United Kingdom and was employed as a textile designer in the early years of her working life. Art has always been a constant and she has explored and experimented with many conventional and unconventional materials. The first sculptures she sold were made out of bread dough which were baked and varnished. These pieces proved so popular that she was able to pursue her dream of being a self employed artist and sold her work successfully through art fairs and markets. Eventually Paula discovered coloured hot melt glue sticks which was an unexplored and really exciting medium to work with. She managed to incorporate wire into the melted glue and was able to form amazing sculptures which were exhibited in many galleries including The Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Further experimentation resulted in the glue guns being used on canvas with the glue replacing acrylic paint which she’d previously used. These sculptural paintings (animal portraits and landscapes) have also enjoyed great success and have been shipped as far and wide as the USA and Australia. One of her beautiful horse paintings was featured on the cover of Equestrian Trade News magazine. More recently Paula has enjoyed working with her latest discovery, the 3D Printer Pen. This ingenious little device allows the artist to draw with melted plastic. Once the filament has cooled, the drawing is a permanent artwork which will hold its shape and can be hung from a dowel or professionally framed. These wall hangings have a lace-like quality and they can be categorized as sculpture and drawing as they are both. For the last four years Paula has lived in Wensleydale and has drawn her art inspiration from the local breath taking countryside and wildlife.
