About The Artwork

Tree Wrap VI (2013) is the latest edition of this series. Four Sweet Gum trees were wrapped in sheets of wired wood clothespins. 9100 or so clothespins were used. The work is now part of the permanent collection of then new Fort Smith Regional Museum of Art.

Gerry Stecca resides and works in Miami, Florida where he has collaborated with designers of various industries creating murals, installations and many other visual commissions throughout the United States, Canada, Spain and the Caribbean for over 25 years. His time is divided between sculptural installations and painting. Stecca is an MFA candidate at the Savannah College of Art & Design expecting to graduate in 2014. Stecca has gained acclaim for his sculptural work using wood clothespins the "Wood Clothespins" series that began in 2002. His sculptures can be found in the permanent collections of the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum in Fort Smith, Arkansas; the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor, Maine; the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia; and the East Wing of the Courtauld in London, United Kingdom.
