About The Artwork

Just to clarify, each panel is 2 feet by 2 feet and each comes with 2 French cleats attached to each panel back and two each for the wall installation. Each panel is made up of one-of-a-kind, porcelain sea waves affixed to a sand color stained wood surface. Each wave has been hand-glazed three times—the backs of each are high gloss white and the fronts are glazed in a light opal/sea blue hue with a sand color detailing. The panels are meant to suggest that time on the sea’s surface when multiple, tiny waves begin to move in the same direction. Many of my sculptures are inspired by the sea, and nature. My inspiration comes from the area where I live, Cape Ann, Massachusetts where the shoreline snakes for miles. I am by the ocean's edge everyday--whether on a beach or the harbor here in Manchester-by-the-Sea. I watch the waves in all weather, and study the light as it plays off the water.

When I discovered that I could take raw porcelain in the palm of my hand and fashion it into delicate, intricate, organic forms, I never looked back. By shaping every sculpture with my hands I can achieve the full range of energy and expression I seek. Each sculpture shape recalls the forms and motion of flowers, sea plants and ocean waves which are on Cape Ann, my home, and where the earth and ocean meet in spectacular forms. My work as a porcelain artist is an extension of my writing about interior design and architecture. Both are about making our homes beautiful and authentic. Architectural Digest has characterized my work as "the epitome of nature-inspired elegance". That is what I work to achieve in each piece I create. I have been working in ceramics since 2003 and began working in porcelain in 2011. Today I have collectors across the globe and several public installations across the US in luxury hotels and lobbies.
