Tri-Star B Double Medallion Sculpture

I developed these pieces by casting folded paper patterns. I make molds and hand cast each piece with plastic. There is a matte appearance with slight texture. Each piece has been clear coated to promote longevity. The piece is mounted to a flat board that is easily hung; hardware is included. This piece has a modern geometric aesthetic and should float on the wall. This work was made during the pandemic. I turned to the certainties of math, particularly geometry to stand firm in the face of uncertainty. Each piece plays on the basic geometry and is tessellated over surfaces to create morphing patterns. Patterns are enhanced as they mark the passage of time through the play of light and shadow as they trace the movement of the sun.
